Martha Project: Day 6, Weekly Cleaning - Bathroom

Posted by Caroline on 9:00 AM in , , ,
Yesterday, Friday was bathroom day. I have to be honest this was the day of the week that I was dreading. This is the one thing that I have not taken on in awhile. Usually, my husband takes care of cleaning the bathroom, I'm really lucky that way. But, since I'm taking on this project I thought that I would have to tackle the bathroom.
I did not take any before and afters for the bathroom because I did not think that it would look that different in pictures, since there is not a lot of clutter.

This was defiantly the hardest of the weekly cleaning tasks so far. I started by cleaning the sink and mirror and then moved on to the toilet. This was really what I did not want to clean, but I got over my grossed outness and cleaned the toilet. Finally, I cleaned the shower; this took me the longest and was the hardest part of the bathroom to clean.
Hopefully, next week this will not be as hard.

Bathroom ReDesign Finally Complete

Posted by Caroline on 9:00 AM in , , , , , , ,
Over a month ago we started what was suppose to be a quick redesign of our bathroom. We were able to paint, change the faucet and add a medicine cabinet within a week of starting the project, but a few things kept us from finishing the project until just last night.

We could not find a light fixture that worked with our space, either the fixtures we found where to large or they did not work design wise. We finally found one online and it arrived last week, that was a big relief.

So, last night we put the finishing touches up including a photo that Aaron's Mom took off our hometown. Without further ado here are the before and after shots of your bathroom.

Before After

Before After

There was not much storage so we added a hook behind the door to hang robes.

We also use this tight space next to the shower to store some of our towels.

One project down, many more to come.

More Bathroom Updates

Posted by Caroline on 10:01 AM in , , ,
We have been quite busy this week with social engagements so the bathroom has taken the back seat a little but, I do have a few updates to share.

We have installed the medicine cabinet, which is helping make the bathroom much more functional.

And we installed the hand towel ring, also helping the function of the bathroom.

Today and tomorrow I'll be painting the trim and staining the vanity. We have yet to find a light fixture that fits our decor and space requirements and a extra cabinet that is priced right. Hopefully, by the end of this week the bathroom will be finished and I'll be able to show you the completed project.

The Bathroom is Underway

Posted by Caroline on 9:00 AM in , , ,
Okay, I promised an update and here it is. So far we have painted the walls and replaced the faucet.

New Brushed Nichol Moen Faucet

The new light fixture that we purchased was too large for the space so I will be returning it and buying something more compact.

The paint color is Eddie Bauer's "Lettuce" available at Lowes

The faucet was a challenge the old faucet had been welded into place and we had to take a hack saw and cut out part of it underneath the sink to be able to install the new faucet and drain.

Our next step is to finish touching up the paint, hang the medicine cabinet, purchase the new light.

Bathroom Update

Posted by Caroline on 9:00 AM in , , , ,
Currently, we are updating our bathroom in our new house. Here are some pictures of the before:

Since we did not want to tear the bathroom apart just yet we decided to make a few adjustments. We will be keeping the tile and all fixtures except for the wall light and the faucet. (Even though I would love to get rid of the pink tile, it will half to wait.) In addition of replacing the wall light and faucet, we will be painting the walls, installing all new hardware and adding a medicine cabinet and other wall cabinet for storage.

Tune in tomorrow and I will have an updated photos of our project.
